Truthful Me….Daily Prompt

You’ve come into possession of one vial of truth serum. Who would you give it to (with the person’s consent, of course) — and what questions would you ask?

What an interesting thought. But I don’t think anybody would agree to the truth serum. As the character of Rose says at the end of Titanic movie “A woman’s heart is privy to many secrets which she does not necessarily disclose even to her husband” or something like that. I think that applies to us all.

So if anybody, I think it would be myself who would take the truth serum. I don’t know if it is a typical Libran trait, but my mind is always confused about taking decisions on everything. Being a double Libran means twice the amount of mess in the grey matter as well as somewhere in the heart region. It is difficult to take a stand, to decide what I feel is right.

So a truth serum would probably help me in clarifying things about myself which I deny or probably might be hiding from self. It might show me where my passion lies about my profession, where I go wrong about some relationships, whether I have an inflated ego or less patience; in short, things which confuse me as to whether I really have those shortcomings or not. It might show me some good things about me too which I’m not able to see. It would be interesting and extremely eye/mind opening 🙂 .

Shower of Awards – Liebster Award :)

Thank you Soul !!! I am very much honored by your nomination. Soul is my new friend on blogosphere, so I was pleasantly surprised by this award 🙂 . Thanks again. Through our friend Internet, I came to know that this award was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere.

The rules of this award are as follows:

  1. Link and thank the person who nominated you
  2. Answer the questions they asked you
  3. Pick eleven awesome bloggers to nominate ( preferably those with less than or around 200 followers)
  4. Ask them eleven questions
  5. Let them know by commenting on one of their posts

So here I go with the eleven questions asked by Soul: What was your reaction to this award nomination? 🙂

Pleasant surprise. And I love surprises.

Why people should visit your blog?

To see if they like my writing and connect with me if they do 🙂 . Isn’t that what we are all here for. To connect with like-minded people and widen our horizons of knowledge and different issues

Share with us your most happiest moment.

When I found love.

What prompted you to become a blogger?

One of my friend introduced me to WordPress. I wrote small poems sporadically earlier. Earlier I posted my poems on FB, but it seemed later that any response would be forced since I know all those people. Here I can get much more frank feedback. And a blog seemed a perfect place to put down all kinds of thoughts churning in the mind and give them some kind of form. And lastly because I always like to make new friends.

Given an opportunity to pursue your hobby, what it would be? I would be a wildlife traveller.

What do you prefer? A loner, lost in your own dream world or a popular bee surrounded with fans.

Depends on my mood mostly. A thoughtful, serious, sad mood will seek out to be lonely but in a happy, gay mood I would like to be surrounded by people including my friends or relatives

Which has been your most successful post so far?

Successful considering the number of likes:

Successful considering how I feel about my own writing:

Which is the first thing you look for as soon as you log in to your blog?

Notifications off course 😀

Do you need prompts to motivate you? If yes, which was that?

As of now, yes. I try to write daily using these prompts.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block? How did you deal with it?

Comparatively new to writing. So no, not experienced it yet.

Which is your favorite book and why?

So many favourites. One of my favourites is “Parva” by S. L. Bhyrappa. It is the story of Mahabharata told from an entirely different perspective, considering Pandavas as human-beings like you and me rather than sons of gods.

Hush…that was a long list of questions 😉 . Now my list of questions. I’m changing the rules a bit and reducing the no. to five.

  1. What was the thought behind the name of your blog?
  2. What was your main motive behind joining blogosphere?
  3. What are your hobbies?
  4. Describe a moment which brought unexpected tears of either happiness, sadness, gratitude etc.
  5. Describe one moment in which you felt you have achieved something in life.

Carrying on the chain forward, I nominate the following blogs for this award because they have either inspired me, brought smile on my face or introduced me to issues which I was not aware about before. I will add to this list as I keep finding new amazing people here 🙂 :

Adding one more, don’t know how I missed her out earlier.

Happy Blogging friends 🙂

Hail Fiction…..daily prompt

When reading for fun, do you usually choose fiction or non-fiction? Do you have an idea why you prefer one over the other?

I had decided to skip writing today’s dp, but as you can see, changed my mind. Reading is one of my passions, though it has reduced a bit nowadays. The love for reading originally started with my mother tongue, Marathi and later continued to English. That is another legacy from my mom and grandma 🙂 …both avid readers. I remember reading books on our history and mythology including Ramayan..Mahabharat..and on separate individuals including Krishna, Karna, Shivaji Maharaj, Peshwe so on and so forth. In summer vacations, especially at our aunt’s house we had no rules as to what to eat, how much and when to sleep etc. I remember reading books till 4 am 😀 . Still do it sometimes (at the peril of wasting the next day in sleepy haze). Introduction to English books and novels started with Nancy Drew, famous five, tinkle comic, hardy boys etc. And it has grown ever since 🙂 . And I am in the habit of reading any of my favourites multiple number of times (which surprise some people), but aisi hi hunn main (meaning ‘that is the way I am’…dialogue stolen from Pyaar to hona hi tha movie 😀 ).

To answer today’s dp question, I usually read fiction. Non-fiction type generally needs lot of focus and have to be read without much break or you loose the thread. Especially books with long descriptions are boring for me. Include some dialogues, keep things a bit light and I’ll probably read even a non-fiction too.

A plea to God

Why this world seems revolving..
making me loose balance..
did I hear it correctly..
or it may be wrong by chance..
the possibility seems bleak..
so let me loose my balance..
and take me away from here..
far away from criticism..
eating up the soul gradually..
far away from this grief..
and soul searing pain..
away to the mountains..
with only you n me..
give me some of your hope..
save the remains of my life..
bring me back to world again..
you are the only chance..
I ever had..
to regain my balance..

Excessive expectations……..Daily Prompt

“Perhaps too much of everything is as bad as too little.” – Edna Ferber
Do you agree with this statement on excess?

They say..
excess in anything..
is a sort of shortcoming..
I say..
doesn’t it depend..
on the present surrounding..

An excessive need..
of love and compassion..
to negate..
hatred and cruel intentions..
a want of realization
why this unfair distribution..
every damn thing on Earth..
divided and quartered and destroyed
are we the supreme beings..
at the apex of every ecosystem..
doesn’t every other creature here..
have a right of living..
how then can we drive them..
to be extinct..

I ask you my friends..
Is this too much expectation..
to touch your hearts..
and remember our honour and integrity..
as human beings..

Make it count…..Daily Prompt

You’ve been given the opportunity to send one message to one person you wouldn’t normally have access to (for example: the President. Kim Kardashian. A coffee grower in Ethiopia). Who’s the person you choose, and what’s the message?

I am reminded of the movie “I am Kalam“, where the little kid around whom the whole movie revolves, writes the letter to his idol Dr. A. P. J. Kalam and tries to deliver it at the President’s residence in Delhi. Great and inspiring movie.

The daily prompt is really confusing. Should the person be alive or someone from past like hundreds of years ago will do too? If that is so, I would like to personally meet Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha ruler around 4-5 centuries back. He was a just and competent ruler who fought for the freedom of Marathi people from Mughal empire.

There is no particular message; I would just watch him and try to absorb at least a part of his qualities. There is a lot to learn from him. Nowadays people just use his name for bossing around others, not really understanding what he stood for. He had no patience for people who abused women or treated them less; there are examples of him administering harsh justice for rapists. On other hand, in the age of fourteen, almost a teenager, he gathered some forces and started guerilla warfare against the Mughals. Such was his bravery. He established a Marathi throne in Deccan region which earned the respect of rulers sitting in Delhi who ruled a major part of India. He instilled such loyalty among his people, that there are separate stories worth recounting of many of them, who sacrificed themselves for defending there idea of freedom.

I guess he would be very angry if he saw the condition of our society today. Corrupted, intolerant, abusers and rapists and proudly showing off that fact.

Didn’t think this post would turn out serious when I started writing it. Guess when your mood is dark, it reflects.
