Future Prediction – Daily Prompt

You’ve been granted the power to predict the future! The catch — each time you use your power, it costs you one day (as in, you’ll live one day less). How would you use this power, if at all?

What is the power in predicting the future? We all do it most of the time…on an hourly, daily, weekly, annually, decadely 😉 basis. We are fools enough to plan for the future and have goals. Then comes some unexpected twist, changing you or your perception of life forever. There is a slight or sometimes prominent change in our priorities and goals. Again we make the same mistake of predicting that our future will pass more or less we plan.

The real power would be if you could actually see into the future. That would be something. But even if it was so, I wouldn’t want that power at least for myself. I love surprises and though some are not good and really suck, I still wouldn’t want to live life knowing what is going to happen next. Maybe I would get tempted to see the future of our planet after centuries. With all the global warming, how and when will it finally hit us squarely in our face. When will the global leaders realize, not to just hold conferences but also take action.

In the end, I don’t believe the future is permanent. It is the result of our choices in different situations, the choices of millions of people. Depending on how we react, one of the possible futures becomes true for us.

    • Noticing the difference you elaborated, I became frightened of the power of predicting the future, as I realized the horrendous power my predictions do have. I am grateful we also have the power to reconsider and choose more empowering predictions.

Thank you for pointing out that difference!

      • Yes, I believe we do have a choice in each situation…and our lives follow the path which our choices make. There is always a choice in every situation, whether we choose to acknowledge it, ignore it or act upon it, is upto us.

  2. Foreseeing the future won’t change much ,our mind may sway our decision, may hamper it . but the fickle heart will still want the experience, in a broad vision endings won’t matter. ……..I think 0:)
