A serious subject today. Beauty is relative. As everybody knows and will agree, what one may consider beautiful might not be the same for someone else. But there are some beauties which are undeniable, acknowledged by all. Also, I believe beauty comes in different types and natures. For eg. today’s actresses Katrina, Priyanka, Deepika are all beauties no doubt, but flighty kind of…forgettable. But think about Madhubala and Nutan, now those are timeless beauties. Even 50 years from now, I don’t think anybody will deny this.
Another kind of beauty is of nature. Some may find it in the first rays of sun lighting up the snow-capped mountains while some may find it in the deserts of Sahara. Then there are gentle beauties like the acres of flowers blooming in spring season and rugged kind of beauty like the harsh climate of Ladakh. It depends on where you are born and brought up. People living in the deserts of Rajasthan are more prone to find the desert beautiful than the green pastures. Those who are from mountainous regions like Lahaul and Spiti will feel out of place on plain areas.
I believe beauty cannot be just captured by eyes but all our senses – smell, touch, feel. When someone says “Her voice is music to my ears.”, it means the person founds her voice beautiful in the sense of feeling it musical, sexy etc. “mmmmm…that pasta smells delicious” is an acknowledgement to the wife’s culinary skills…another kind of beauty. There is beauty in absolute silence broken only by the winds. I could give countless examples, the meaning of which would be the same. Whatever a person likes is beautiful to him or her, be it looks, music, food, nature etc. And by this statement I also mean, that it is in our power to make things beautiful or ugly.
