Is Fear Normal? Of Course. Useless? Of Course.

So true…we rely and believe on the idiot box so damn much these days.

IMG_20140902_150855As I read about Ebola and all the reactions to it from Americans, it strikes me:

We have every reason to feel concern about Ebola. It’s a serious illness.

Still, much and perhaps most of the response I’ve seen so far has been less than useless. It adds harm! Hysteria and confusion and panic.

How can concern be both reasonable and useless?

It’s simple, really. Concern, fear, anxiety: these are feelings. Feelings can’t be wrong: they arise from a place deep down, primal, a primitive place far below and before logic or rationality. From a time when there was only survival, or not, nothing more.

We have such deep instincts because in times of danger, when we lack the time to think before we react, they keep us alive, more often than not. But modern life is far more complex than it ever: we feel fear, anxiety, concern usually not…

A young confident woman
To a shy daughter in law
She changed gradually
As the destination drew close
The change was difficult
But never unwelcome
For though these people were different
They had considered her as “own”
It was a matter of joy and pride for her
In being able to accomplish it
As well as their inherent goodness
And willingness to accept her
For this deed of theirs
She was ready for countless transformations
Because they were now her “own”

That is All

All it takes are a few words, to misunderstand
All it takes is a long distance, to go apart
All it takes is a lengthy silence, to feel empty
All it takes is a lack of faith, to mistrust
All it takes are little actions, to ignore

All it takes is a touch, to feel love
All it takes are some words, to hope
All it takes is unshakable trust, to believe
All it takes is store full of patience, to wait
All it takes is a heartfelt call, to come back

Strategical win

The World Series starts tonight! In your own life, what would be the equivalent of a walk-off home run? (For the baseball-averse, that’s a last-minute, back-against-the-wall play that guarantees a dramatic victory.)

As always happens, it starts small
outside tensions, escalating at home
giving rise to, impatience with others
taking granted, our own family members
pointing out mistakes, being a critique
nothing is worse, but at the time who cares
It always ends, after a big gap
a gap filled with silence and sadness
then replaced by love and longing
a longing to get it over with
a longing to be in his arms again
a longing to forgive and forget
a longing highlighting our own mistakes
It is always best then, at such times
use the best weapon, we women have
cry and bawl and shed tears in gallons
then they have no choice to give up
but make up and kiss
making “us” victorious

Mountain girl…….daily prompt

You get to spend a day inside your favorite movie. Tell us which one it is — and what happens to you while you’re there.

🙂 off course a romantic one. I’m a one hundred percent romantic.. 🙂 Action, suspense and horror movies are all right at their own place, but for relaxing you need romance sprinkled with humour. Also, as one of my friend says, the kind of movies where the underdog emerges as the winner in the end. Love those type of movies; inspiring, though most of them are fictional.

One of my favourite movie, as I have given in some other post, is Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (loosely translated to “Who Wins is only the Alexander” 😉 we call him Sikander in India). The meaning of the title is that the one who wins, greatness will be his. Even when you have any excuses, real or imaginary ones, a looser remains a loser and a winner is a winner.

So, coming back to our prompt, if I was in that movie, rather than being any of the main characters, I would’ve been a simple college girl and enjoy being in one of the most romantic and beautiful places that one can be fortunate enough to go for studying. Yes!! The hills, greenery and the roads through the mountains in that movie are so great, I fell in love with the place that I haven’t been to yet. It has been and still is my dream to have a home somewhere in the mountains and be able to see their glory every single day. I don’t think I would ever be tired of it. Being at such a place with someone you love 🙂 would be the icing on the cake.

So that is my humble idea about who I would want to be in my favourite movie 🙂

Happy Blogging and weekend!!!

The Need

A ferocious need rose within her
to touch and be touched
to love and be loved
A hunger potent and persistent
A fire lighted and stoked by him
A devil had been awakened within
that she had hidden from the world
A devil of passion and wildness
that wanted them joined together
She then knew as sure as her heartbeat
Trouble had made way in her life
Though never wanting it to go away
Finally lost count of her sleepless nights
